Getting Started with Any Other System

Connecting a system that does not fit any of the other scenarios to the IRB Exchange involves the following major steps:

  1. Signing an agreement with Huron to use the IRB Exchange.
  2. Planning for the accounts and systems you need to connect with the IRB Exchange.
  3. Getting digital certificates for secure access to the IRB Exchange.
  4. Requesting one or more IRB Exchange accounts.
  5. Installing certificates and granting access to the private keys.
  6. Writing code to communicate with the IRB Exchange.
  7. Testing your system's communications with the IRB Exchange.

About the Test and Production Sites

The IRB Exchange offers a test site where you can use your staging system to practice using the IRB Exchange, and also a production site where you can connect your production system to exchange real data. Some of the getting started steps apply differently to your staging and production systems, and some steps must be performed more than once. See the detailed instructions for each step.

You can find the IRB Exchange Site URLs in the Web API Overview.
